Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd strives to be a teaching and training center that impacts children by modeling the life of Jesus Christ through instruction, fellowship and worship. Using a bible based curriculum, children can process and incorporate theses stories into their hearts and lives as they learn them each year. The goal of our Christian education is to provide enjoyment for all ages, combined with a desire to know more about God, about his Son, and about Christian life.
Sunday school is for all ages and it is fun. It is through Sunday school that we gain in knowledge, spirit and fellowship. Children of all ages have the opportunity to be with their peers in a small group-learning environment. The teachers are all volunteers that are committed to investing in our children with love, time, and prayers while equipping them to live their daily lives in a morally sound manner.

We strive to teach a Christian worldview that encourages the children to become active in reaching others.
Sunday School begins promptly at 9:15 AM. On the first Sunday of the month, everyone meets in the Sanctuary for a brief opening; other Sundays, all students should go directly to their classrooms. Parents are always welcome!
Adult classes begin at 9:30 AM.
Parents are asked to meet their children at their classrooms at the end of the Sunday School hour. Classes dismiss at 10:15 AM.

Parents are welcome to bring their babies and toddlers with them to any Adult class.
Nursery students (starting at about age 3) are expected to be toilet trained.
Instruction for First Holy Communion is scheduled each year for children in the sixth grade. First Communion Sunday this year is the last Sunday in March.
Following First Communion, children participate in two years of instruction and preparation for Confirmation and membership in the church. Read about confirmation here.
Teenagers have their own class where they discuss a variety of topics particular to teens.
The adults discuss many topics, such as marriage and raising children. Parents with children under three are encouraged to bring them along!
We often have more than one adult bible study in progress; currently we have a women's-only bible study and a mixed group.
In Pastor's Invitation to Discipleship class, the basic teachings of the Christian faith are explained to adults that seek to know more about Good Shepherd. His class is taught in an informal manner so that adults can search their faith and hearts for what Christ means to them. Prospective members who are not transferring from another Lutheran church are taught the Lutheran precepts. Current members who want a brush up are also welcome to take the class.
Bibles are presented as a gift to each student in the fall of their second grade year. Children in second grade and above should bring their Bible to class each week.
Disruptions in Sunday School classes will occur on occasion and we encourage teachers to handle problems in a loving but firm manner. When a teacher cannot assure a comfortable learning environment for the other children in a class, parents will be asked to attend Sunday School with their child. This request will be made after the third major incident.
